I love Colin Firth's portrayal of Mr. Darcy in the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice; he did a splendid job! Not sure if it's real or not, though--someone else recently had a success with him, and it looks different than mine. One or the other's is fake, or Colin Firth just does different signatures. Opinions are welcome.

There’s a lot of talk and conspiracy regarding the authenticity to Colin’s TTM autographs, and I have to lean towards the Secretarial side of the debate.

For me, he replies far too quickly and frequently for a man who is working constantly. The success rate happens far too often and within weeks, and you just don’t get that with other celebrities that do sign authentically. Usually you’d have to wait a few months to get a reply from other working stars, yet Colin always responds pretty fast every time.

Which, to me, says that his TTM successes are secretarial. This is why they differ with other people’s successes too.

I don’t want to dampen your excitement at receiving a reply, and I really hope for you that it is a genuine, but the evidence all stacks against authentic to me.

I do know for a fact he does sign authentically via venue via movie sets, so next time he’s filming something I would recommend sending there

I've noticed that.... Normally, celebrities are handed batches of autograph requests that have stacked up, but he automatically responds to each letter individually. Not that all autographs that are in that case are fake, but with someone as famous as him, it does seem off. I received a reply from Alison Steadman (BBC's Pride and Prejudice's Mrs. Bennet ) within two weeks, and that was pretty fast, especially for across the ocean, but she isn't as famous as Colin Firth, and she wrote a note (which secretaries scarcely do), so I have a high suspicion it's real.
