Book Signings Question!

Unread post by missmaexox »

Okay, so on Friday, I might be going to a Book Signing. Bobby Flay (Chef) will be signing copies of Bobby Flay's Burgers, Fries, and Shakes and I'd like to go. If I brought a photo, index card, etc. would he still sign? I don't want him to sign a book for 2 reasons:

1. I'd like to keep this in my autograph binder. I can't do that with a book.
2. I don't have a copy.

So, would he still sign it? Has anyone else brought an index card or photo to sign instead of a book? I don't want to come and not have anything signed :?. Please help! :)

Also, this is the site I got the information from, does anyone know if it's legit? I won't go if it's not.

Thanks in advance! :D

Hey Kelsey! :mrgreen:

The website looks pretty good :) I'd say it's legit! {up}

I'm not 100% sure but maybe he won't mind, maybe you can also buy a copy and get him to sign that as well as your index card & photo? He probably won't be that reluctant to sign it :) If you only limit to 1 or 2 things for him to sign then it'll probably be OK :mrgreen:

Have fun! :) Don't forget to post it on here! {thumb2}

Thank you! :)

I'll probably do that, buy a book and also provide something to put in my binder. ;-) I haven't seen the book yet, but if it's not too thick or big, I could probably slip it in my binder, too. :lol:

I'll make sure if I go I'll post if on here! {thumb2}

From experience, celebs will often sign other memorabilia at book signings but only if you buy the book too. I know for a fact that the store wont let you in line to meet the celeb if you don't buy the book. It is a book signing after all! Most times the celebs don't mind signing the odd photo aswell but you will definitely have to buy the book before you'll be allowed to meet the celeb. {thumb2}

yes, that's a legit site.

And I've been to tons of book signings. The bookstore will not let you in line if you don't have the book already or plan on purchasing the book the day of the signing.

Most celebs will sign 1 other thing at the signing, but it depends on their agent/management.

Thank you everyone! :D
I am 90% sure I'm going now, it'd be my first book signing, so I'm excited if I do go. :)
I will make sure I buy the book, and I'll bring a photo (or index card) also.
Also, does anyone know if they let you take photos, too?
Sorry for so many questions, like I said, this is my first book signing.

It depends on the bookstore and or the signer if they want to have photos taken. Just bring a camera in case they say yes. I'd personally ask the day of the signing.

not a problem. I started collecting autographs by going to book signings. :) Signed books are addictive!

Also - call your local bookstores and see if they'll be having any book signings in the coming months (sometimes they're not all listed on any websites), Borders, Barnes & Noble and Waldenbooks are usually really good about getting back to you. Some "mom and pop" bookstores do signings with local authors too.

Hi Kelsey!

I hope you have a great first experience at the book signing! Bobbie Flay is great! Love him as one of the Iron Chefs! I've only been to one book signing myself for Jamie Oliver and like someone previously said you could get other memoribilia signed as long as you purchased the book he was supposed to be signing (I didn't think about bringing a different cookbook of his - mostly due to the size and weight - but he did sign other things). At the particular signing I was at due to the short amount of time he was there and the amount of people who showed we weren't allowed actual pictures with him but store workers would take your camera and take a few candid shots of you with him, so that could happen. Definitely bring your camera either way! :D

If you have questions, you should try calling the store. They would know a lot better as to how things will be run and will be able to provide you with the best information. {up}

Have fun and can't wait to hear about your experience!
