Computer-typed Notes/Letters?

Hello again.

I was wondering if celebrities have anything against sending computer-typed notes/letters instead of written letters, in case one's hand-writing is terrible like mine is? Or do any of you usually just send computer-typed notes/letters anyway?

I always always hand-write mine because to a celebrity, I feel it shows that you care and were willing to take the time to sit and write what you wanted to say to them. Typed messages are less personal. Also, sometimes typed messages can be a standard format that are mass printed and given to a bunch of celebrities without any thought into them. I think most celebrities prefer hand-written fan mail because it is more personal and makes writer seem like a true fan. Dealers are probably less likely to hand-write letters because they want to get as many autographs as they can and don't care about the celebrity.

I think if your handwriting is very terrible, you should include a line about that in your LOR so that they know there is a reason why you hand-wrote your letter.

I've sent both and I received successes in both cases. I just try to not make an impression that your letters are all alike with only the names and movie titles changing. I think if you make you printed letter more personal, no one would care that you didn't write it by hand. After all, some people writing (mine among those) is sloppy as hell.

I've received just as many successes from typed as handwritten letters. I know a lot of collectors think sending typed letters is a faux pas (and some actors won't even bother if it's a typed letter). It just depends on who you're writing to, I guess. I think some actors/secretaries are on the lookout for typed letters that are clearly form letters ("I thought you were great in __________", "__________ was an awesome character", etc.).

I always type mine, and have always gotten a return. Never had something sent back unsigned.

Just as a "for instance," I sent this to a prominent figure in mixed martial arts and the UFC. As you can see, it's a typed letter, and he took time to write a little note on there and returned it to me. There's an example of a person that doesn't much care if it's typed or handwritten. I've received about 10 of these things back: my typed letter with a handwritten return message on it.

I almost always type mine, simply because I tend to write really big, and smush my letters together, and it can sometimes be difficult to read. If I know that a celebrity prefers a handwritten letter, then I write it. But, in cases when I send to older people, I usually type it, and use a bigger font so it will be easier for them to read. I've had replies both ways though, so, I would say use your personal preference. Or you can do some research and find out which celebs prefer a handwritten/typed letter.

I've gotten some nice personalized successes from both handwriting and typing requests. I feel like for most celebs, it's the words that matter in the letter, not the format.
