it's really at the discretion of the player and whether or not they sign in the first place, but if the player does sign, I don't think they'd have a problem signing that, provided it is of them of course.

Ill expand upon leebo's response because most of the time, its unrealistic. You arrent getting to the front of the fence unless you assault people. Let's start with proper ettiquette. No shit..no trampling women or children for an autograph. If you're a grown man in public bugging other grown men for an autograph, you come 5th in the pecking order..behind 1. Children 2. Disabled 3. Women 4. Senior Citizens. No joke, your autograph isn't worth a kid or chick being harmed and I've had a confrontation over that before and guess what? The trooper on premise sided with me, confiscated the toolbox's poster that he trampled everyone in arms reach to get signed, and tossed him on his ass out the front door. If you're this guy, everyone fuckin hates you lol. They just don't tell you unless you cross the line. This includes the players as well, so your chances of autographs dwindle. I've seen out of control adult men get turned down because they've either been too pushy or pretty much pushed a players buttons. Its good to know who you're getting too. I have a lot of success getting the guys that no one bothers to follow, so when I call them by name, they have no problem stopping. In 2005 that was Brandon Jacobs. In 07 it was Ahmad Bradshaw. Domenik Hixon. Kevin Boss. I've done pretty well with the guys that most don't bother to follow. My advice would be to look up the photo and scout the guys not named Colt McCoy, Joe Thomas, Peyton Hillis or Joe Haden. 'Cuz tats all anyone elsse is gonna care about. Show the guys like TJ Ward and Jabaal Sheard some love...lesser name guys with a ton of potential.

Thanks for the tips guys! I actually do not want guys like Hillis or Thomas, but I agree Ward and the Greg little's of the world have a ton of potential and hopefully will be more likley to sign because there rookies or younger guys. I see guys go to events with a huge backpack of stuff and try to push everyone out of the way and get pissed when no one signs. I was just going to take a mini helment or white panel football to get signed.

This strategy works out pretty well. I've gone to a couple of Redskins events, and it's always easier to get one thing signed by as many players as you want to and/or can get. A white panel ball is great, keep in mind you'll only be able to get a few sigs on a mini helment before you run out of room. If you have one specific player you REALLY want, get him to sign the mini and everyone else on the ball. I got John Riggins to sign an 8X10 at an event once, and all the other players to sign a ball.

leebo makes a lot of great points, especially when it comes to creative signs. For example, a group of fans chanted Deangelo Hall's name the other day after practice at training camp, which prompted him to go and sign. Make the guys laugh or get extra creative, that will up your chances. Just don't go with any expectations. If you get a guy like Peyton Hillis, great. If not, just be happy with what you did get. A lot of guys who wouldn't sign TTM in a million years will sign a lot at Training Camp (Santana Moss and London Fletcher are great examples.)

Good luck to you, let us know how you do!

EVERY REQUEST INCLUDES A SASE, INDEX CARD FOR "SLIGHT" PROTECTION AND LOR!!

NONE OF MY AUTOGRAPHS ARE FOR SALE!!! THEY ARE FOR MY PERSONAL COLLECTION ONLY!!!

Autograph collecting is a hobby of mine. It is not meant to be anything for profit nor beyond my enjoyment. I only send out to people I have deep respect for in their profession/field. I send out to the following but not limited to: professional/college athletes/coaches, actors/actresses from TV shows, artists/authors, voice actors/actresses, and any other random celebrity I love/respect. I try to respect everyone's privacy the best I can.

Feel free to private message me about anything. I'm always willing to help if I can. Just do not demand addresses/advice. Be chill about it and I'll definitely be of some help! Aggression and entitlement gets nothing.

Best advice I can give everyone about autograph collecting through the mail are the 3 P's:

BE POLITE!!!
BE POSITIVE!!!
BE PATIENT!!!

What it took to get Mario Manningham...I got a #86 Michigan jersey and wore it to camp. It worked. Drew him over like a magnet. He signed it, gave me a bump, took a picture..told everyone else he was done and ran off.

Non football related topic, but touching on strategy. I frequently go to Detroit Tigers games, it doesn t seem like a lot of them sign. Back when they were horrible 96-05ish I could fill up a ball and get every card pic whatever I brought signed. Granted, I was much younger. I've been to 6 or 7 games this year and have only seen Magglio and Cabrera sign. I didn't get Cabrera but I got Magglio on a romlb. I do this purely as a hobby, but these guys have to think a dude in his mid 20s with a bag of 8x10s and baseballs is a dealer, so they usually get to me last, ok I accept that.
While I was in Iraq, my roomate and best friend now went to high school and played baseball with Austin Jackson. Last week I went to a game and brought a HUGE sign that said "hey Austin I was roommates with Adam (we won't use last names lol) in Iraq for 15 months he he says hi" or something like that. After he was done working out he started running back to the dugout everyone was screaming for him to come over and he basically ignored us. Then he saw my sign, changed course immediately. Shook my hand and said tell him I said what's up. I asked him if he'd sign my pic and he was like of course! Signed for me and like 2 other people and ran to the dugout. It was so sick I never thought it would work but it did, and it was awesome. So in the words of the great Darrell Waltrip: "sometimes you have to strategerize" it was great I got that whole nervous shaky I don't know what to say feeling getting an autograph for the first time in years. So I guess I'm just kinda touching on the training camp creative signs post from earlier.

Also to the guy who asked about 8x10s: that's all I send, they look better on walls. Sometimes u get a player who only signs cards but I always put a sticky note on the photo asking them to make it out to me. This way they know I'm not trying to sell their autograph. I have a pretty decent success rate with 8x10s through football teams and home address. But I have pretty horrible luck with them through baseball teams and 8x10s.
