I think it would help if you actually put "Friends" or whoever in the TO: section of the email; as I got an automatically generated email saying if you request more than one or undisclosed recipients your request will probably fail.

If you request an autograph, should you expect an automated reply from the company? Some of mine have generated these and some haven't. Despite this the one's that haven't had, as far as I am aware, have been delivered.
