Look on Matt's youtube channel (matthardybrand) and there is a post about fanmail showing how he does it is very fast him and Reby both set down and deal with it she hands him the stuff and he hands it back for her to do the rest. What I think may have happened is the silver markers are sometimes really bad on trading cards I don't think it works with the high gloss (even deglossed) you have to give it more time to dry then the black which Reby may not know.

I doubt that but I'm sure he was using the same pen for everyone and it was one of those that smudge real easy.

Here's the thing that raises my suspicion against Hardy. He's not a newbie to signing autographs.

Matt should know how to sign items without smudging them. It's just the volume of smudges that makes me wonder if he was being careless or doing it on purpose.

I'm curious to see (if/when I get Matt back) if my 8x10 looks different than trading cards. But honestly, I agree with Cubsfan, Matt probably just doesn't care if the card's signatures are smeared. He sells signed pictures now on his website, and probably just doesn't care how the signatures turn out as long as he's getting them back to his fans.

It's been a while since I've posted here, but all my recent updates can be found at the links in my signature. On the subject of the smeared cards coming back from Matt and there being a lot of new users to this board I'd like to address the deglossing issue on most (if not all) of the newer sets released by TNA and WWE. For some ungodly reason it feels like Tristar and Topps are using a gloss on the more recent sets that doesn't come off as easily as the sets from '08-'10 so the traditional method of deglossing by using baby powder, spreading it all over the surface, and wiping it off doesn't take the gloss off like it used to. The powder has to sit spread on the cards for a few minutes then it's best to wipe it off with your dry fingers using a different finger for each card or cleaning your fingers after each card directly, then using a piece of soft rubber like an eraser to gently pick up the remnants of the baby powder (pressing too hard with the rubber will leave streaks on the card). I got back 3 cards signed by Matt yesterday and not a single one of them was smeared, I got back several cards from Matt in April and none of them were smeared, but then again I have a very stringent deglossing process that I use on cards and in the last year I've only had a very small number of cards smear.
