Re: Channing Tatum Success - Thoughts on authenticity????
hey there coach, ill try and make this as nice as possible. now we both agree he was in vegas. my litho is embossed in 94 so i guess i was off a little. its embossed by front page art nevada. ive looked through the top boxes and totes and so far all ive found is my pics of dan marino signing diamond sports memorabilia and jr. seau signing my litho. the jordon litho is an artist proof no.35 of 50. i havent come across my picture of jordon or ali signing yrt but there here somewhere. my best friend was mike marino the son of angelino marino the artist that did the original paintings that the lithos were printed from.its also signed and nubered by angelino.when i closed my card shop and moved back here things have kinda got scattered and after 15 or20 years i just dont know where 1 particular piece is right now and really dont want to dig everthing out just to prove to you or anyone for that matter that im not a liar. angelino did 4 or 5 different jordan lithos and i have at least 1 of each. the 1 that i have signed was painted in 93. you said 91ish well my litho is embossed 94 so its quite possible we are both right dont you agree? sorry about the harsh exchanges but i knew i was there i was just off a little on specific date. so sorry about that part.the marino diamond sports mem cover i have him signing the painting was actually done in 91 but the magazine cover was actually came out in 92. man its 20 years and 2500 miles later so thats the best info i have right now. i had a sportcard shopfrom 88 to about 96 or early 97. never had a return claiming they were fake autographs. but that was business and this is just for fun. so good day to you and hope we can have frienlier conversations in the future. take care gary by the way im not a liar thats just not true. yeah i guess we got a little carried away sorry about that
Re: Channing Tatum Success - Thoughts on authenticity????
First of all... So now this has turned from a public signing at a convention where Michael Jordan was singing a stack of 8x10s, and you paid him in person to sign a photo.
To now an event where Jordan was singing a bunch of artists proofs?
Second... You bought something from Front Page Art? You do realize they were busted by the FBI back in 2000 during "Operation Bullpen"... the largest fake sports memorabilia bust ever!!!
http://www.fbi.gov/sandiego/about-us/hi ... n-bullpen/
You do know Angelo Marino the artist who did those proofs had a son named Greg Marino... who was the largest forger of sports graphs ever! Make sure you click the link above and read the names closely. You'll probably see some of your family friends listed.
Third... And you say you used to own a card shop? Going by your previous misinformation/comments and your feelings about TTMs... I sure hope you weren't selling fake stuff in your store!
And lastly... If I had a real limited edition signed Michael Jordan litho... I would make sure it wouldn't get lost when I was moving.
I am really looking forward to your next story... I think you have discredited yourself already!

no i think you dont understand. im not changing what i said imve got the litho hanging right here. as for front page art it is embossed like a notery crimp. ya i knew greg a little not much i hung out with his older brother mike. i had no dealing with greg i only met him a couple times when i went to mikes. mostly mike was at my house practically everyday. so as usual your trying to pick fights. if greg was busted for forgery it was after i moved back here. ill bet angelino kicked his A//. thats to bad cause angelino was a very good man. i notice you didnt mention mike cause he was a pretty good guy too. i havent talked to anyone in san diego in 16 years so im not up to date on whats went on there. if greg got popped good because the rest of the marino family are good people. i just dont understand how you can say that they werent selling jordan pictures at THE show of the year from at least 88 til i left in97. i tried to make nice but your hell bent on being a complete jerk. there wont be anymore replys to your stupid stuff. iwas there plain and simple. so you just keep being a jerk cause youve mastered it. i read the report and i never would have thought angelo himself would do such a thing. looks like they ruined the sports memorabilia hobby all by themselves. what a shame. the only marino i didnt see was mike. hope that wasnt just an omition. but now it seems i HAVE to question every thing i didnt see personally.glad i left there instead of being duped into that repulsive mess. by the way no jerk there werent any family members or people i knew besides the marinos. how disappointing.

Both Angelo and Greg WERE (not if) busted... along with their entire Front Page Art Co.! They are both listed on the FBI's website in the link! I don't care who Mike is. Angelo is some nice guy... not only was he forging autographs but he was also paid to not go to the police. The feds confiscated 300 forged lithographs from him.
Alot of people didnt deal with Marino face to face... yet his forgeries were sold in stores all across the United States and in other countries around the world. Probably some stuff hanging on your wall is his handy work!
So now these signed Jordan pics were sold at a show?
You said you got them signed IP when he was sitting at a table with a stack of 8x10s in Vegas and you paid him the money and he signed it for you.
You probably shouldn't respond to this thread anymore. As no one on this forum will take you as a serious/educated collector. Just a guy who associated and bought autographs from the family partially responsible for putting the largest amount of forged sports memorabilia out in the market.

Re: Channing Tatum Success - Thoughts on authenticity????
I am shocked. I am a victim just like the rest of the people that got cheated out of 11,000,000 million dollars. Back in the day you never heard much if any about fraud. All this took place in 2000. 3 and a half years after i left my cardshop. What i really wonder now was my supposedly friend mike was even a MARINO. beens i dont see his name on the list of convicts. So i find out 15 or16 years later i was cheated out of 5 or 600 dollars. its relly great finding out the stuff youve been so proud of is junk. im so discusted i dont know whether to throw it away or burn it. Ive got a couple pieces i know are real but the rest is probably junk. im so bummed. Ive learned one thing for sure ill never pay for an autograph again. they had c.o.a. pictures of the people signing icant believe it was all a scam. As far as im concerned thet can all rot in jail. If i had any idea i wouldnt have argued with you. So i owe you an apology because you were absolutley right. ill just take my 3 REAL PIECES and write of the rest as junk.
Re: Channing Tatum Success - Thoughts on authenticity????
Having a "pic of an athlete signing an item" is the oldest trick in the book.
Sure they may have signed one, or a hundred real ones. But then they use that pic to build their rep and mix in the hundreds and hundreds of identical fake items!
These guys scam was going on for well over a decade... Not just in the year 2000.

Well thats easy to see now. Alot smarter people than me and you have been scammed out of alot more money than i was. lLook at wall street, owners of the mets, the billions scammed by bernie madow. Whats the answer trust no one? Its really S====Y that people are like that. I guess unless as crooked as they are you dont want to believe that anyone would do that to people. Like I said before LET THEM ROT IN JAIL. Im sure weve all had someone we trust do us wrong. Its my own fault for trusting the wrong person.

OMG, wow, im speechless, well almost.
Its sometimes very hard to say this in this hobby because you hear so much dumn stuff sometimes, but i agree with the user who said that what Gary posted was the dumbest thing he had ever heard. That logic has got to be the stupidest and the most ignorant and uninformed i have ever heard. I wouldnt be so harsh if i thought he was a green collector, but it doesnt seem that way. To think that just because you got a reply back that its real, is just plain stupidity. If what your trying to say is that we should be happy with any response, well thats true, because they truly dont owe us anything. But for new collectors, please please please please, a million times over, never and i do mean never think that just b/c you got a reply that its real. That is just ignorant logic. I really just cant believe someone posted that response. Maybe they were just trying to be funny b/c even a new member who had never collected an auto wouldnt say something that crazy.
Wow, just wow
