Senator John Glenn Success

Success from from Senator John Glenn via The John Glenn Institute for Public Service and Public Policy at The Ohio State University. Before becoming a Senator, Glenn was one of the Mercury Seven, the original 7 NASA astronauts. This picture is Glenn in front of the Friendship 7 capsule, which he flew to become the first American to orbit the Earth on February 20, 1962. Glenn was a US Senator from Ohio from 1974-1999. While still a Senator, on October 29, 1998, he flew again, this time on the Space Shuttle Discovery, becoming the oldest person to fly in space. He is the last surviving member of the Mercury Seven, and the oldest living former US Senator at age 93. Sent September 8, 2014, received January 9, 2015.
