Hello again
I also contacted Bicker and he offered some up for sale too. I mentioned the quality of his newer autographs etc and he told me straight out they were hand signed and that I could get from an earlier signed batch 5 years ago if I wanted.

I basically did the same thing with former Australian prime minister Gough Whitlam. The handwriting is also very shaky and he's turning 98 this year!

Hi keithdfields :)

Thank you for your feedback {up}

Would you have a scan of the envelope you received please?
If so, you are in the run for the $10 gift certificate.

Great success. I have the same bookplate which he also inscribed in his own hand just by writing to him....But that was a good 12 years ago. To my understanding George H.W. Bush never used an autopen for book plates. This looks like how his signature became as he got older as well. {up} [us]

Yeah, he's pushing 90 and had serious health issues of late. Grateful for the signature for my personal collection. Thanks again for all the feedback.

It looks as if President Bush is experiencing rather bad shaking hands. You have to remember the man is quite up there in age and recently has had health complication.

Looks legit in my opinion. That is his bookplate btw.

When I emailed them, I didn't ask for a free signature. I asked "how can I obtain an autograph from President Bush" I also asked if I could send my book and that's when they said they had bookplates for sell in the store from this past summer. It was the last time he signed for them, for now.

I know about the Gene Simmons book, also about Sarah Palin and Steve Harvey but they only sold for the price of the book. So you, in reality, were paying for the book with no markup. This is clearly the bookplate only, and that would not be legal to sell in the bookstore as authentic. They sell the bookplates in the museum store for $150. That would be like selling a secretary signed item as authentic.

There have been many instances were autopened autographs were sold as the real thing.

A recent one (i think... will have to double check) was Gene Simmons... whos signed copies of his biography were autopened.

If an autopen can sign a bill into law. A celeb selling an autopen as a hand signed autograph probably wouldn't hold up in court.

keithdfields wrote:It wasn't free, I did purchase it. It's unlikely that they would sell auto pen signature as real. That would be a major issue, fraud. He does still have a few items that are for sell on his library website.
Oh I thought it was free and you got it when you emailed them. I misunderstood when you put success because most successes on this site for him are free through email.
