There are different postage rates for different countries of destination.
There isn't a single standard "international price" for mail.

A large envelope to Australia costs $1.24 minimum, which covers 1oz. If it was 2oz, it would be $2.08
For comparison, the same envelope to Canada would cost $1.09 minimum, or $1.29 if it was 2oz.
This brings back the original point that some of us were making - different countries of destination, different postage rates. What you normally use to send to one country does not necessarily cover what it costs to send to another.
