so the people at canada post are lazy, and dont appreciate $26/hr to walk all day, therefore they have gone on strike, and no one is receiving any mail...

that being said, im exremely P-O'd!!!!

also to be said, dont send anything to canada for a while...cause it wont go anywhere....
and dont expect anything important from canada for a while, cause, well, nothings happening...

so have fun mailing to all the other countries of the world where the people delivering the mail are content with making a lot of money for a presumably minimum wage job.

i have a friend here in the US that works for the USPS and he would take your post a little offensive if he read it.

yes those workers get paid a decent wage with benefits but they deserve it! they are high risk because a lot of them transport your VALUABLE mail. i am sure they would make nice targets to STEAL from.

maybe you should understand why they went on strike. they must have UNANAMOUSLY voted to strike which i am certain they didn't want to do. obviously whomever pays them (government?) was most likely going to make a durastic change so they voted to strike.

it sucks that their descision effects you and everyone else but i would blame both sides instead of blaming the workers.

what happened was the contract was up, they wanted more money/stuff....and what they wanted was a drastically large increase. canada post met them halfway, but they refused that therefore strike.

the reason i wrote "presumably minimum wage job" was the job is not overly difficult. While they may be prime "targets" for robbery, their wages were HUGE to begin with. They make more /hr. than UPS or FedEx.

I understand to a mail-person the comment i made may sound a bit off the cuff, for which I apologise.

this was quite a detour, but the fact of the matter is, your mail wont be delivered until the post decides to put on their big boy underwear and get back to work, supporting their families, and providing an essential service to the country.

Whilst I sometimes support striking workers, when you are getting $26 an hour, and are offered a pay rise, that is pretty darn sweet to me. It does seem kind of petty to strike over this...
Does the government pay these workers? If so, I can't say I am surprised that Harper would not cave in haha.

But back to the case at hand, this is very frustrating, as I was going to send to Anna Kendrick (one of my most wanted) vv but there is obviously no point now. Any word on when this will be over? The most annoying thing will be if these are rolling strikes.

Some people with postgraduate higher degrees earn less than $26/hr!! Why spend 7 years at Uni when you can be paid better to exercise! Unless they get to ride motorbikes, in which case $26/hr to not even exert themselves!

I agree that this strike is ridiculous and the mailmen are being very greedy,they get between $23.00 and $26.00 per hour to get exercise and as far as danger of theft i have never heard of a mailman being robbed in canada so thats a non issue here. They act like they care about the people getting their mail and blame the the government for locking them out and us not getting mail but in reality they only care about themselves and the government just locked them out so they would stop doing rotating strikes which cost the government alot of money and by locking them out they can now force them back to work next week which they plan on doing and they will take what was offered to them and should be happy to still have a job considering mail delivery is down 20% over the past 2 years in canada. Dont forget its the taxpayers that pay their salary and we dont want to pay them anymore money and considering half my mail shows up bent or wet i would say they are already overpaid...They will wish they werent so greedy in afew years when all streets have the boxes and door to door delivery ends and one person in a van does what 50 people were doing but they only have themselves to blame. As far as autograph requests go i had send to selena gomez whos hosting the mmva awards in canada on sunday but i doubt it made it in time thanks to this strike and even if it did she cant mail it back to me nnow anyways....Thanks for nothing greedy mailmen and women

Are the mail carriers being required to do more work? I'd like to fully understand their situation. Obviously there is reasoning for them wanting more money. IF its like every other jobs especially around here, the work force has been cut by at least 35% and the same amount of work has to get done so the remaining employees have all that work to pick up overloading our currently full work load.

Nobody wants to make less doing the same thing when the cost of everything is getting more expensive every year.

No they just want more money,larger pensions and more vacation time. Mail volumes are down in canada and nobody at canada post has been laid off so if anything they do less work than 2 years ago. I know unions are there to protect workers but they tend to abuse it and ask for too much which is why unions are almost a thing of the past now.Another reason they are striking is because in most cities in canada mail is still sorted by people and the government wants to have machines do it because it costs alot less and is faster and probably more accurate and no possiblity of theft. The bottom line is they would like to stop losing money and as a taxpayer im all for the automated sorting and lay offs because in the end tax dollars pay for it and it would be nice if it wasnt a drain because those dollars could go to other important things .

Not only is effecting our autograph collecting (was going to be sending out Aly Michalka to the hellcats address), But it's effecting others around the world. My mom does ebay (She Sells used Toys) and we went to the post office today. She was sending tons of packages, and I was sending my letter to Amanda Seyfried. She puts the package up to Canada.

They are assumingly payed very well, and even offered to be met halfway. It sucks for all those out there who needed to send there, because now we cant.
