War time Veterans

I was wondeing what other people thought about sending requests to ww2 an ww1 veterans .
is it respectful ?

Um, maybe a little odd...not disrespectful. There are a couple of people who send request to some of the high ranking officials and people who had a significant experience during the war. I think instead of sending an autograph request to them, you should just send a thank you letter. I don't think you need to collect their autographs, but thats just me.

On this note, I believe anytime you see someone who fought in WW2...you should stop and thank them.

Not that I can truly speak for anyone, but I am a Veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom and I personally don't think a veteran would have a problem signing an autograph for anyone. On the contrary, I think they would be quite flattered with an autograph request and would pleased to receive a letter from someone who admires them for the sacrifices they made for their country. Just make sure your letter is sincere and doesn't sound like someone who has an ulterior motive behind their request. Semper Fi!

I think it is a wonderful idea, but as someone said keep it sincere. I can't wait to see who you get. I think the history of it all is facinating.

i am trying to get Charles Choules
and i am sending some questions as well .
i have said in the letter how i respect him for his sacrifices
i dont espect him to personally write the answers
but thats not what i want
i just want the history that i am so interested in

i agree with matthew.erbele. i'm a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom II...i think most Vets wouldn't mind sharing their experiences with people who want to hear them. sometimes it helps... just be honest and sincere with your letter.

Good luck with your quest for collecting veterans and war heros. I have been lucky enough to add several historical figures to my collection and many of them are Military related. Good Luck
