Hello, i have been collecting autographs since i was young but it has been a while since i last received an autograph. been 2 years since my last.
i usually put the letter in a professional style format which includes my return address and their address underneath it then the Dear Soo and soo then the letter itself.
is this too much or should i just
write
Dear so and so instead of putting my return address and their address on top?
can somebody pt an example of their letter here?

I generally don't put addresses in the letter itself. The only reason they would need to know where you live is to write back to you, and you've presumably already included an SASE so it really doesn't matter.

i usually don't include SASE... Only twice (one for Dick Van Dyke and one for Robert Pattinson wayyy back when he was in HP4).
Here is what I normally write:
(NAME HERE)
(MY ADDRESS HERE)
(NAME OF CELEBRITY)
(ADDRESS OF CELEBRITY)
(DATE)
Dear Johnny Depp
Hello, how are you? My name is (MY NAME HERE). I am a huge fan of yours. I loved your performance
in Pirates of the Carribbean, Edward Scissorhands, and the Corpse Bride. I was wondering if I could have your autograph? It would mean a lot to me.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
From
(INSERT NAME HERE)
I usually type my letters but handwrite my name in between From and a typed name in (INSERT NAME HERE).
What are your opinions?

To be honest, any hack dealer could write that. Make it a bit longer, show you a real fan, not someone who browsed their imdb page.

That doesn't even look like a real letter...one sentence on what you like about the person? Mine are at least 3 paragraphs.

I have a customised rubber stamp with my name and address and I always stamp the right top hand corner since that's how I do all my letters.
I hand write and start by please asking them to sign my photo/send me a pic and return in sase provided.
I then write a paragraph or two about admiring their talent/work and one or 2 roles in particular, and the reasons for my enojoyment.
If it's a big name celeb then I will explain I in no way intend to sell auto's on, saying due to illness fan mail is one of the few hobbies I can enjoy etc.
Then I finish thanking them for taking the time to read my request.
