Genie Awards - Many Canadian and International Celebrities!

I went and stood by the red carpet of the Genie Awards last night and saw and met a number of celebrities and was able to get several autographs. I didn't take that many pictures just because I was so busy concentrating on getting the autographs.

Most of the celebrities were very willing to sign except for William Shatner who walked by ignoring pretty much everyone.

So here is what I got:

Jay Baruchel - Actor known for starring movies such as The Trotsky, She's Out of My League, Knocked Up, and Million Dollar Baby


Jodelle Ferland - Actress known for starring in the horror film Silent Hill and for playing Bree Tanner on Twilight



Melissa Etheridge - A Grammy and Oscar winning singer known for such hits as Come to my Window, I'm the Only One, and Angels Would Fall.



Bruce Greenwood - Actor who has appeared in movies such as Capote, Dinner For Schmucks, Thirteen Days, National Treasure, and Star Trek. He was one of the nicest ones to walk the red carpet last night, very friendly and funny.



Mia Kirshner - She is best known for playing Jessica on The L Word and for her portrayal of Elizabeth Short in the movie The Black Dahlia.



Robert Naylor - He starred in the movie 10 1/2 which earned him a Genie nomination for Best Actor in a Motion Picture. He also played DW on Arthur.



Kardinall Offishall - A Juno and MMVA winning rapper often credited as "Canada's Hip Hop Ambassador".



Johnny Reid - A Juno and CCMA winning Country Music Singer originally from Scotland.



Shannon Tweed - An actress who is also known for being the longtime partner of Gene Simmons and appearing on his TV show "Gene Simmons Family Jewels".

Denis Villeneuve - Canadian director who has won 3 Gemini awards for best film: Maelstrom, Polytechnique, and Incendies which was also nominated for the Academy Award for best Foreign Film.

Remy Girard - He is best known for acting in films such as Incendies, Jesus de Montreal, and Les Invasions Barbares which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. He is also the most-nominated actor in the history of the Genie Awards.

M. Villeneuve and M. Girard both signed my Incendies mini poster.



Jessica Lucas – Actress known for roles in She's the Man, Cloverfield, CSI, Melrose Place, and The Covenant.



Serena Ryder – A Juno award winning folk/indie singer songwriter.



Gordon Pinsent – The legendary Canadian actor has appeared in television shows such as The Red Green Show, Due South, Wind at my Back, and Power Play as well as voicing King Babar in the animated series Babar. He has also appeared in movies like The Thomas Crown Affair, The Rowdyman, The Shipping News, and Saint Ralph. He is also a Companion of the Order of Canada, the highest honour that can be bestowed upon a Canadian.

Zaib Shaikh – A Canadian actor who stars in the sitcom Little Mosque on the Prairie



Also in attendance were a number of politicians including Stockwell Day, Chuck Strahl, Gary Lunn, James Moore, Pablo Rodriguez, and Gilles Duceppe, Canadian First Lady Laureen Harper, and the United States Ambassador David Jacobson, I also had Ambassador Jacobson sign an autograph for me.
