"Obviously not a sports collector". You haven't seen my collection, but no, I am not a Sport(s) Collector. I am a Sport Collector. I am a Baseball Collector and have put together one heck of a little collection of Baseball Items in about a year and a half. Many of these items that I obtain are obtained (In Person) through shows, games, and appearances at the Bob Feller Museum. I also obtain many TTM. I log many miles as I live in North Dakota which is close to nowhere as far as Baseball goes (I live 6 hours away from Minneapolis which is by far the closest), and actually do spend plenty of my hard earned money traveling to many of these events. I might also add that I put my life on the line every day that I do earn my money in my duties as a Police Officer. Because I mention that people complain about not getting inscriptions you insult me, my intelligence, and my baseball collection. Do I know that collectors put more value on a signed item with an inscription , yes I do. Difference is my collection is not for sale. I mentioned that people want the inscription and do make a big deal about it when they don't get one, but do get the autograph. My point is that the signature is most important and without it the inscription is worthless. I never insulted your collection, don't insult mine, especially when you have no idea what I have outside of what you have seen on fanmail.biz. I have many baseballs signed, bats, jerseys, game tickets, etc. A lot of miles were traveled, many games watched, a lot of time taken to meet these players and legends of the game.

Inscriptions are valuable to most collectors. Athletes charge more to add an inscription, they've figured out the value of adding HOF or ROY or Cy Young or MVP or Heisman. Check any sports signing and you'll see the additional cost charged. It is a preference that most collectors want, but not everyone will fork over the extra cash.

Well obviously you're not a sports collector for one. Secondly, I wasn't complaining that I didn't get the HOF inscription. If you knew ANYTHING about sports autographs you would know that items with the HOF inscription are typically worth more than without it. Inscriptions in general are usually worth more and thats why a lot of HOF'ers charge extra for it. It has nothing to do with showing people they are a HOF member, but its an inscription that most collectors want.

Yea, I sent him $25 and he signed my baseball but didn't put his HOF inscription on it.

That's why I bought a ball signed by him on eBay for $30. Did the same with Ralph Kiner. Sometimes you can find cheaper certified signed items on eBay.

I have sent him 3 letters and finally he wrote that its $40 for a card and he has a list on the whitey ford foundation website
for signing other items.
