EMMA YOU CAN TELL BY THE WAY IT LOOKS IN THE LIGHT IF IT SHINES OR DO THE SMUDGE TEST IF IT SMUDGES ITS REAL. SEE IF ITS LEAKED THROUGH BACK OF PIC THAT ALSO ALWAYS ISNT GAURNTEED. BUT LOOK FOR INDENTATIONS. ON BACK OF PHOTO. HERE IS SOME WAYS

Hi Emma,

If you hold an autographed photo up to the light and look across it (a desk lamp is great for this) you see quite easily if it is a pre-print or not. If it is a preprint, the gloss of the surface of the photo will continue over the signature.

If it is an original, the autograph will look matt (dull) against the photo background.

I would not recommend the smudge test above, as you stand to ruin your autograph if it is a real one!

If the auto is signed in metallic marker, you can sometimes feel the raised ink if you GENTLY touch it with the back of your nail.

Hope this helps! {thumb2} [uk]
