Linda Blair FAIL

Unread post by AutographDiva »

Sadly, Linda was one of my biggest disappointments. I made a large donation and sent several items to be signed in return. Her org people accepted the donation, however the RARE and now IMPOSSIBLE to get collectors pieces that I sent are now officially "lost". I did speak with someone at the charity in person. She was very nice but could not do anything to help me. I just want my stuff back that I KNOW was received...at this point even unsigned would be nice. Lesson learned I supposed. I have always had great luck with donating and then asking for sigs...until this one.

Maybe they will send them back eventually but the fact you donated money and got nothing back is disappointing but everyone knows in this hobby nothing is guaranteed and you should never send anything you are not willing to lose forever. Like you said lesson hard learned here. :?

I met Linda at a Horror Drive-In Movie Fest here in town last year. She was the special guest. Autos were $30 each and only on one of her produced photos. I asked her if she ever signs TTM and she said with her schedule and the autograph market, not anymore.

She used to sell signed photos on her website, but I just checked today and there doesn't seem to be a link to purchase anything.

....is there any reason you didn't contact the charity to see if she'd sign in return for your donation BEFORE you sent an incredibly large donation (which they're free to accept with no strings attached) and your "rare and now impossible to get" pieces (which they also don't have to return)?

It seems to me like it would be only logical to make sure it's possible to get what you want in return for a donation before sending the donation and rare pieces that you can't replace, not after.

AutographDiva - Sorry for you - hope somehow you get your things back. Don't listen to MW1221 - he jumps on anything that would make a person feel bad or worse and that is all he did here- ignore the negativity and if I were you I would tell him to go haunt another website.

Actually, I think mw1221 is the only one that tells people about fakes on here that actually does so in a usually polite and well educated/written manner. Maybe a tad too straight forward sometimes but it always seems to be in the best of intentions, and not for pointless arguing like most others that jump on every chance to tell others their autographs are fake, which is literally just about every other user on here that claims to be "experienced". So hats off to you, mw1221, for staying sane in a now insane forum. As a long term collector, I used to love this site as a quick and easy way to see people's feedback, share your successes, and generally help others in collecting. Now it's a site full of immaturity, name calling, bashing, and people who just get off on disappointing others. It's a shame.

OP; sorry for your loss.

Let's not make this a drawn out thing as I also believe the forums should be about collecting also. MW1221 is not the only one who helps with information. I can think of 3 others offhand -jason1980s, cjhanson, and stillluckas13canbe. It's just that MW1221 is being negative. What good is repremanding the OP after the damage is already done? Although I have to admit, as I have said before, that these forums can get boring. I pour it on thick with MW1221 because I believe him to be an intelligent person and I enjoy matching wits with him. He makes a lot of sense but could be less harsh and, let's get serious now - He's right about having a site that was well organized and truer to the hobby - but is there any way we get it back to the way it was before? It's so messed up. MW1221 - I don't believe you when you say you don't care - you are too passionate about it. Tell us how we can revert back to the way it used to be. I for one will stop with my wisecracks and get more serious and do what I can to help. Devise a plan and the members can act on it. Maybe we can petition a vote for new Mods. and Admins.
