I had sent Mr. Trucks a hand drawn portrait (just for him. No other exists), a nice long letter (I've been writing him for years, not asking for autographs, but just to keep in touch) and a Tigers logo (for his "last" autograph for me) on the 12th of Feb. Today (2-22-13), I received the logo back and some gifts from him. He has to be the kindest retired athlete have ever encountered in our hobby. Like usual, he wrote a letter back, sent an 8x10 print of his entire career, signed card, an 8x10 photo of him with the St. Louis Browns, an 8x10 of him with Casey Stengal, Duke Mass and him (Yankees) and a signed hand fan of his head, writing on the handle "Use in case power goes off." (that still makes me laugh, and anyone that knows me, laughter is rare from me). I really hope he makes it to the Hall of Fame, because he has done some great feats in baseball. Due to his age and medical issues (carpal tunnel in both hands), I'm not asking for any more autographs, but I'm sure he'd sign for first time writers to him, because he's cool like that. This man is truly a legendary pitcher and I am very honored to be able to call him a friend.

I won't post the letter, as it is personal.
