I did not send a sharpie, Al Kaline is a autograph veteran that does not need a sharpie sent to him. As the others have said, it is up to you to send a pen if you desire.

I have sent a pen to Dave Parker because I read he was using a crappy sharpie.

If you are sending to Phil Bradley, I would send a sharpie since he uses a ball point.
