Can you facebook someone for an autograph

I know it sounds like a odd question but I was wondering if you could facebook a certain celeb for an autograph ( that is if they even read mail) but could you message them and ask for an autograph or is it a big no-no and yes I have checked the celeb in question this is their real facebook.
