Mr/Ms/Mrs, or first names?
Sorry if this has been done before so feel free to move/delete/merge/whatever.
Basically I was just wondering, do you guys address celebs as Mr/Mrs or use their first names?
For me it depends on who it is- for most I just use their first names, but when it's someone I feel warrants respect, eg. Alan Rickman or David Jason, I use their title. Is that bad, should I always be using titles?

I usually address them by their first name, as I feel uncomfortable always calling people "Mr." and "Mrs." but if I really admire that person (like, if they're older than me, and they have a really high authority) then I use a title. ![Mr. Green :mrgreen:](./images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)

Re: Mr/Ms/Mrs, or first names?
I always use Mr. or Miss (Mrs. seems inappropriate when usually their name is a stage name and not their married name, and Ms. is just... sounds wrong to me) when addressing people. I would never call anyone by their first name, as I don't agree with familarity for someone like Lauren Bacall or Aaron Eckhart. I don't know them, so I would never use their first names. It's like meeting unknown people in real life, I would never call someone I vaguely knew by their first name, unless I was invited.
I guess my letter writing lessons in school really did sink in.![Laughing :lol:](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

I ALAWAYs call them mr/ms etc. Even if the celeb is younger then I am. I think they deserve respect.

It depends on their age. If they are older than me by 10 years I will add Mr./Ms./Mrs. before their first name. Otherwise, I will address them by their first name.

I always use first name, but I dont know why. I understand there being more respect in using Mr/Ms but you can be respectful and polite without being so formal. If someone has a knighthood I do use "Sir" though. (Sir & first name, NEVER surname).
I know a lot do stick to surnames and I probably would for someone I hugely respect. I dont know, I play it by ere. Case by case![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: Mr/Ms/Mrs, or first names?
If we're talking about starting the letter, I just use their full name, without Mr/Mrs. I don't think the type of people I write to (writers, directors) would expect that sort of formality, so I just say :
Dear Wes Anderson,

I don't ever refer to them by name in any other part of the letter.
However, if I am writing to a Sir/Dame, I address them as "Dame Judi Dench".

It really depends on who I'm sending to. If I'm sending to someone older then me then I always say Mr./Ms. If I'm sending to someone the same age as me or younger I just use their first name. If it's someone a lot younger then me, (like 5 years younger), I just write Hi [celebs name].

I address my letters to Mr. (Ms.) First Name LastName. {thumb2}
