I wrote to Mr. Cosby on 31 March 2009 and sent a SASE and letter, and he was gracious enough to oblige me with a Inscribed signature on photo. I received today, 22 June 2009. :D I wrote to him at this address:
Bill Cosby
P.O. Box 4049
Santa Monica, CA 90411
USA

Well I was tickled over it! Is Secretarial Signatures creditable down the road like say if I passed my collection on to my kids? Hypothetical, I mean are they even worth anything, or is PP and AP better. I am really confused about the hobby now. Or is secretarial signatures almost as good as authentic. I mean do they sign checks, papers, files, bills, etc.? If they have all this power, wouldnt their version of signature hold weight down the road? Just curious, happy none-the-less, but wanted to get the facts straight about the hobby. :?

If your father signed your name on your passport, you didn't sign it. Period.

That would be called "forgery", or even "identity theft", thus being illegal. Since signatures to autograph leeches don't hold any sort of legal standing (as would your examples of checks, bills, papers *contracts, I assume you meant*), it doesn't matter. It might as well be a homeless man signing "Best Wishes, George Washington". I'm friends with a guy named Steve Miller. If I get him to sign a copy of 'Brave New World', that doesn't even mean it's worth anything.

So basically you saying you throw secretarials away or discard them then . If they aren't worth having, why write to them or is that not what you saying. Oh well I liked them!

So should I be excited about secretarials or should I treat them as a failure? How do we know if secretarial if we don't see them sign? Just curious about all this. I am learning though, thanks to help from you members. Thanks!

Well, I'm pretty new at this too, but I'll see if I can help you.

It's totally up to you how to feel about secretarials. Me, I treat them the same as APs or PPs: they look good, but have no sentimental value.

The Bionic Fan wrote:

Signatures are determined to be secretarial if they look different from known (usually IP) authentics. There may be other ways too but again, I'm new at this.

I only write to people that I know have a very good chance of replying to me personally, and have no history of using a secretary to fool their fans into thinking that one of their favorite celebrities care about them.

So to answer your question... yes. I throw secretarials away after I do significant research to prove that it isn't authentic. I have the autograph collecting hobby because I want autographs, not fakes.
