WHOOPI Goldberg failure

Post by mymymy »

I arrived at last nights press night of "Sister Act" last night to hear that Whoopi Goldberg was there and had been signing and posng for photos earlier in the afternoon.

There were a few celeb guests including Jason Issacs, Cilla Black, Bruce Forsythe and Graham Cole. Whoopi arrived in a car and did press stuff and signed nothing.

After the show we were watching her car to see hwich way she sould come out, she went out the Stage Door which wasnt a good place beacsue as well as fans like we, tonns of people had seen the show were waiting too, there must have been around 50!

She came out and mumbled somethig like it wouldnt be fair to sign for one of you as i would have to sign for all of you. I see her point but it would have done wonders for publicity and kept people happy. She was escorted to her car with her hands covering her face from photos - I managed to get a photo with which was rubish becasue it was clear she didnt want photos taken.

Me and one other person ran after the car which stopped twice at traffic lights and refused just the two of us, she had a cigarette in her hand and she said " I just want a smoke, I just want a smoke, leave me alone" so I did and I am lost for words. She seemed a bit fragile. I t was a rubish night and upsetting that an actresss i enjy the work of for wahtever reason didnt take time for her fans especially shen she is going to make an absoloute mint out of it
Its not like i will ever see her again as she rarely fluies and hasnt been in the Uk before, what a bummer!

Sorry for that failure

I'm not sure what I should think about her. I have sent her 2 photos a view month ago to sign and she only signed one...but I'm still happy with that one photo.

This isn't autograph collecting anymore, this is rude! No wonder she refused you!

Sorry to hear that.I see Mymy point though.I mean sometimes if you really, really want an autograph you pretty much do anything to get it even if it means chasing.Although I've never done it I know some of my graphing friends have. I hate it when people can be so rude.Like it takes so long to sign an autograph.I don't think so......

Wow that's very surprising. In New York, she's always willing to sign and stop for a chat.

Maybe she was just anticipating the flight home. I think on Jonathan Ross she said she'd done a "nervous flier" course in preparation for coming to Britain, but still hates to do it. To be honest, if she was going straight back to the hotel to pack up and then to the airport, I don't blame her - her nerves were probably really kicking in by then.
