Size of Pictures

Post by Skye »

Is there a thread already on this? If there is I'm really sorry. I couldn't find it...

Anyway, what size pictures do you usually send? Just curious and why??

Advantages? Disadvantages?

I usually send 4x6 photos.. they're much cheaper and more easier, especially on postage but celebs usually send 8x10s.

Hey Skye!

I typically send out 4x6's as they are easy to store. {thumb2} You can always send 8x10's but they cost more to ship and receive. Some of my friends send out 16x20's which are HUGE! :o

Hope that helps ya! {thumb2}

Yeah, I send the smaller photos, but I normally send out 5X7. They are bigger than normal but still under the US small letter size (I use 6X9 envelopes).

I use the smaller ones because of the cost: they are cheaper to buy than a 8X10 and the SASE doesn't need twice as much stamps.

So that's what it boils down to for me: cost. :D

Ok thanks. I've never had a problem sending 8x10 picture. They always cost two stamps... and I"m sure a 5x7 will as well. How many 5x7 can you print on one photo page?

You should be able to print 2 5X7 on one page with a home printer.

If I send a 5X7 photo and 6X9 SASE, I only need one us first class stamp. And since I write to a lot of people with no feedback on the forum, I'd rather only lose a 5X7 photo and not a 8X10 :)

If I put a 5x7 in a 9x12 envelope... would one stamp be enough?

If the envelope is 8X10 or large you need at least .83 cents or 2 first class stamps.

Hope this helped.

Hey Skye! You can always buy 6x9 envelopes to hold 5x7 photos, and those only need one stamp if I remember correctly! :D Just as long as the weight is the same as a #10 envelope. {thumb2}
