Ted Turner is a US businessman who is best known as the founder of CNN, the first 24 hour cable news channel as well as the media and television companies TBS and Turner Classic Movies. As a philanthropist he has focused on environmental issues as well as the United Nations, gifting the UN with a $1 Billion donation to create the UN Foundation, of which he currently serves as Chairman of the Board. In 1991, Time Magazine named him their 'Man of the Year'.
