I have worked in radio for over 12 years and met some of the biggest names in music. I have never once asked one of them for an autograph when they are there for a show. That is such a pathetic thing to do. They are there to do a job. Would you like somone to come to your work and ask you for an autograph right before or after you are on the stage putting on a show for 20,000 screaming fans??? Dont think so.
It depends on the environment. I've done it a handful of times, and I know several other pros who have, but only in more laid back situations.
However, with the way this poster talked about it, I'd be willing to wager that isn't the case...

I am also in the media business and agree with you both. I have interviewed my fair share of sports and entertainment celebrities and while some are willing to sign, like Scottie Pippen and Chris Kattan, others are not. It doesn't mean they "owe" us anything by being media OR fans. And as far as asking as a media member, I agree with MW1221. I always ask the celebs management BEFORE hand if they will sign something after the interview for the office so it is always in a laid back situation.

Why do people go on this fucking site lol childish arguements always on here. Cant be good for your health to get stressed out so much. But yea the OP..Its Willie Nelson...what the hell did you expect? A signed personalized photo in 5 days? Your lucky you got a response at all instead of waiting and waiting for years with no response.
Geez no need to be greedy id rather just write to them

Personally, I'm happy with auto signatures. I'm thankful they even took the time to open the envelope. I don't sell autographs, so it doesn't matter to me. It's just something I love doing. I sent a picture of the Pawn Stars to the cast members, and all I got in return was a new picture of them. I was still satisfied.
And about the Willie Nelson thing, I don't think you should blame him. The guy has so many fans, are you REALLY gonna get mad at him for passing up an autograph?
Autographs I have collected: Paul Teutul Jr., Jerome Simpson, Marty Brennaman, Jim Davis, Pawn Stars, Pete Rose, Dusty Baker, and many more!
Wish list: Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, Ray Manzarek, John Densmore, Robby Krieger, Angus Young
I would rather recieve a PP than a rejection letter i do agree that it isnt there job to provide us with autographs its more like a perk have millions of adoring fans write you letters asking for signed items and they kindly Provide it for us with tonnes of Entertainment in thier movies and cds
Some Angencys dont like people sending in their own stuff to be signed (in the UK anyways) but i have sent in some extra things and they signed it regardless of rules and June Brown (Dot from EastEnders) even sent another picture of her own choice to me.
Think they dont have to sign autographs or even be nice to us (us being fans) but they do send stuff to us and be nice to us if we meet them in the street.
Sorry for your failure. Just write to him and ask for an autograph instead. Write a big letter of why you're a fan and why it would mean so much to you and he just might write back. Good luck next time!
I bet $$ you don't even own a Willie Nelson CD.
Shit the guy is 82, even celebrities retire.
Just so you know, no celebrity owes you anything.
This is a fun hobby, but some people make this harder for everyone else.
The other people who are ruining this hobby are scum bag dealers who just sell them for $ on eBay or shows.
More and more celebrities are not signing, because of these more-ons.
I remember when Ringo Starr said that's it; he will not sign anything else, and gave a date when he will be quitting (so basically act now). So, a bunch of retards stared commenting (YouTube) about not being a fan anymore (like they were true fans in the 1st place). It's nuts these are people and they have a right to retire and enjoy the success they had.
