I can see why so many people don't bother to post their successes on this site. There seems to be a competition to see how many hopes and dreams can be squashed in a single post. To me it seems like if the person DOES NOT ASK someone else's opinion about the authenticity of an autograph than all that should be said is congratulations.

Just think about how excited the person was when they pulled the letter out of their mailbox. They probably rushed right in the house to scan it so they can post it and say "look what I got today!" - then you people come along with your "holierthanthou" attitudes - "this signature looks nothing like the signature that I recieved last month when I met "so-and-so" - gimmie a break!

You have convinced me to never share my successes. I will keep them to myself - happily content with WHATEVER I received!

In this specific case I'd like to quote Andy...

No one is saying that collecting secs (etc) is wrong. What is being said is if you get a secretarial, then accept it for what it is, dont put yourself in a state of denial and say its genuine...

I definately don't see where someones hopes and dreams are an issue. No one on here is stealing someones college fund or telling someone they can't be a doctor, lawyer, actor or even the president. It is interesting to note though that that was her first post on the forum, and since then she has not made any others . . .

when I'm writing about PP's, AP's, Sec's, etc this is to enknowledge new collectors who read the postings on here and don't know anything about PP's, AP's, Sec's, etc.

And of course we may not forget the collectors on here who actually do want to know if what they received TTM is actually authentic or is it secretarial, preprint, autopen, etc.
