You're doing the chicken-and-egg thing. I don't need to be right but I only post when I am sure I am. It's been well known for years that Dustin Hoffman only sends out APs. Every one of his autographs is the same, just as the OPs are. He may be questioning the top of the D but it's there, lost in the black area of the photo. I know people like you like to believe they're special and are getting authentic when everyone else is getting secretarials or APs or preprints but, believe me, Dustin Hoffman doesn't want to see autograph requests and fan mail and never saw the OP's letter. A secretary ran it through the AP machine, plain and simple.

I don't whether it's the naiveté of wanting to believe everything or the arrogance to want to believe they are so special that the person signed only for them, but some people just don't want to believe the truth. Spending a few minutes researching this site before you send to someone can save a person a lot of money on postage and the embarrassment of posting a great "success" only to find out the truth.
