Question about charity collecting

Post by writergirl123 »

I want to get an autographed Brewers baseball for a charity auction going on in my area, which I know that they do, but they want you to send a form proving your non-profit organization's 501(c)(3) status. I know that that means they're exempt from taxes, but I'm not sure how to get such a form. I know it's a weird question, but if anyone else has had to do this and they know what to do, please let me know!

If they are requesting proof that you are a 501(c)3 then you need to get a hold of that particular charities board member, ceo, president, founder - any one of them should be able to help you. You need to send them the certificate or determination letter from IRS. To many people are "pretending" to be a nonprofit to get stuff so some are starting to require proof. Can't say I blame them - I have no problem sending our letter when someone requests it.

Good Luck.
