Here is my issue , back August 2014 I sent 2 photos to Christopher lee for autographs. He passed away in June 2015. On August 14 2016 I got the package back with both photo autographed.
Did he signed them before he died, then family mailed them
Did someone signed it this year.
The possibility exists that he signed your stuff, then it got misplaced and only recently found. I would compare what you got with what are known to be genuine signatures, but unless you see it signed in front of you, you can never be 100 percent sure it was signed by him. You can get 99 and an infinite number of nines sure, but not absolutely.
I sent an astronaut an autographed request. I got it back a year later - but when I got it back said astronaut had been on the space station for a number of months! I can only surmise he had pre-signed a stack of photos and had his secretary mail them out, and mail them out after a certain number of envelopes had been addressed.....

Sir Christopher sometimes had secretariats and runner stamps.
But I, once sent a card to a footballer. After a couple of years he died (the card hadn't been returned) but his wife found it (signed) & returned it to me.
Another much more high profile footballer died just before receiving my request. His lovely daughter returned my unsigned card - but included dozens of photos and paraphernalia several of which were signed before he passed. Very kind and very appreciated
