Prints quality and sizes

Unread post by ttswaps »

I have a few questions for you all basically I'm about to order some more photos and my first lot I purchased premium glossy prints "6x4.5". However the other option is standard Matt prints. I'm confused which would be best for my purpose and welcome your opinions and thoughts on what's best quality and also when you search for photos to use where do you look and which size is worth going with.

As for what I thought on the premium "6x4.5" glossy photos most looked good some where bad quality but that's purely down to me picking some bad ones.

If I can sufficient resolution, I order 8x10s. I prefer matte because glossy photos retain fingerprints on occasion. And I find Sharpies adhere better to matte (and dry faster) than glossies.

I get 6x4s to keep postage costs down. Now I send off less, I may consider getting 8x10s.

Everyone here seems to go for matte finish but for me it's gloss all the way. I've never had smudges (except those signed in awful gold pen which is runny anyway) and think they look nicer {up}

Thank you both, I think I'll see how the first lot come back before deciding whether to change to matte finish.
