Hi, I am a rookie and I need help. I sent 4 fan mail letters this offseason in which 0 have replied back.
I have a couple questions that I would like to be answered.
Austin Hedges (July)
Tyler Skaggs (July)
Dylan Bundy (August)
Taijuan Walker (September)
None have replied back.
1)First off, am I doing the procedure correctly?
It is structured as so:
Player's name
Team Name
Address
City, State, ZIP code.
I send an envelope to the player with an SASE inside. THE SASE HAS NO RETURN ADDRESS ON IT BUT THE LETTER TO THE PLAYER DOES. I include a friendly letter complementing the baseball player and asking for the autograph and an item to be autographed of course. I've only done baseball cards so far but I think I'll start getting some photos too.
2) When should I send the letters?
Spring Training?
Season?
Offseason?
3) If I send any during spring training and the players happen to not get to them, what happens?
Do they get sent to the MLB stadium?
Do they stay there for next year?
Do they send them back?
4) Any reason why they haven't sent back?
5) Do they send back during the offseason?
6) please please, any guys that you know are good through the mail?
Any other advice would be EXTREMELY appreciated. Thank you so much for your time.
I am going to prepare some envelope to be sent about a month before spring training
I also have gotten a couple of good ones at games.
I went to a minor league baseball game and I got like 12 autographs.
Help, rookie, MLB fan mail help????

I'd suggest you start writing your address on the return envelope (SASE) because not everybody actually reads the letter of request! that may be why you haven't had any replies - they don't immediately see an address to return it to.
I hope you get something back soon sorry I can't answer the other questions, but I'd definitely say writing your address on the SASE will help you get replies back!

I am no longer using this site. Too many pricks.

A handful of MLBers do not reply. You have to send a bunch and get lucky. But yes, the previous poster is right...definitely write your name on the SASE!
If you are patient, you'll get lucky. I've gotten some good ones over the years...David Wright (after like 8 tries), Mariano Rivera, Willie Mays, Miguel Cabrera...

Thanks -Lil1- for the siggy!
