I was wondering if anyone did this?? I don't know if it's goofy or not. I usually color the letter and envelope nicely. I think it gives me good luck. haha

Hello :)

I always used to decorate my letters with stickers and sometimes glitter but I asked the same question on here and got told off by some people :lol: They said it was rude and childish etc. I disagreed but I stopped anyway. I think it's a good idea because it shows your individuality and would make your letter stand out from the rest.

So yes I'd say keep doing it, I don't see any problem with it {up}

thanks. I was hoping it wasn't too goofy! I don't see how it's rude, I only color the borders. My letters are always written neatly in pen.

Hayley, why would it be rude? :shock:
I like to draw something when I'm in mood :) This summer I draw something in every letter I sent out :) Sometimes I also draw something on the envelope but rarely.

That's what I thought too. But that's what other members told me so I stopped doing it!

I just sometimes put stickers on the envelope,like i live in canada so if i send to the states i often put canadian flag stickers on the envelope to make it stand out and sometimes i draw stuff on the letter too like carton faces and stuff,lol I don't think its stupid i mean it shows you took some extra time and that you are a individual and not just sending another fan letter like all the rest,and how it could be considered rude i don't understand so i would keep doing it but just don't overdue it to the point of total distraction... {thumb2} {thumb2} {thumb2}

I don't think it's rude at all, but I rarely decorate an envelope.

I think what others mean is that it can seem "stalker-ish" if the envelope is overly decorated.

In the past I have put a sticker on the envelope as a seal where the glue is on the envelope, but that's about it. A few times I drew a little flower or something, but that's the extent of "artwork" on my envelopes.

I wouldn't go overboard on the stickers/drawings/glitter (especially glitter as some people can't stand glitter) and I think you'd be fine. Ultimately, I think it's a personal preference.

I don't see a problem with it. I guess it would stand out from other envelopes and things. :D

I hardly do it though.

I don't think it's rude either, but it can be childish.. though most people here are young anyways..

I agree with Selise that you shouldn't overdo it. I was talking with a post office worker a few weeks back, and he mentioned someone who overdecorates the envelope and uses different sizes and indentation for each line of the address, and he joked about trashing them because they were so hard to read.

Oh no I don't do that, i'd feel bad for the mail carrier, lol. I just decorate the borders. The address is written neatly in pen.
