Chewie wrote:Getting into the Tony Award spirit today, I decided to make a website to display my autographs, and uploaded my collection of 49 signed playbills today! This has been a great year of Broadway, and collecting these playbills has perhaps been the highlight of my autograph collecting experience.
Click on "Playbills" to view that collection. I just started it today, so the other categories don't have much, but will be expanding.
Just wanted to share that with you guys! Commercial's over so I better get back to the Tony's!
Nice site Chewie! And a great collection.
However, this season was the weakest/worst season since 1998-1999!!! Some of the PLAYS were good but the MUSICALS were a 100% grade A fail!!!!! Ragtime was my only highlight this season and it flopped =(!
Yeah, in comparison to years past it was definitely one of the weakest. I only became interested in Broadway shows 3 or so years ago, so that's my only real frame of reference.
By the way, I have a question or two here. I know Studio 54 and AA Theatre generally don't send out playbills as they're part of Roundabout. Do you know anything about the Cort Theatre? I've sent off for "You're Welcome America" (with Will Ferrell) last year and didn't get a response. Then I sent to A View from the Bridge there this past winter and didn't get a reply. I tried Fences mid-April and still haven't had a reply either. Do they just not send playbills as well, or does it have something to do with the caliber of stars in those specific shows?

The Cort is part of one of the major theatre owner organizations (Shubert, Nederlander, Jujamcyn, etc) so no, no affliation with a not-for-profit company like Roundabout.
I'm guessing Denzel and perhaps even Viola don't sign playbills. Scarlett Johanson probably didn't sign playbills either, or perhaps you sent too late by accident. Will Ferrell's show...it was really just Will Ferrell and some of his little known buddies (and his brother I think? Lol) so you should have sent directly to Will. Generally speaking and as a tip, it's better to just send to the star if you want their auto. Something like Will's show wouldn't do cast signed since it's just Will pretty much.
I did send directly to Will, requesting a playbill. Granted it was pretty late, but I didn't get anything back. For both A View from the Bridge and Fences, I sent on the day they opened. So I have no idea. Maybe Fences will still come in and surprise me.

Seeing as how you're from NY, I guess you could probably try it. I haven't seen any playbills from there in ages though.
It isn't really closing entirely, I believe there's just a two week break before switching casts. If you're hoping for Angela and Catherine, I suppose the worst that could happen is it's kept for the next cast.
