How many SAE Successes do you have?

Not to be rude guys, but I just wanted to know if you have recieved any autographs using an SAE. I didn't ask whether I should send an SAE or a SASE.

I have gotten quite a few actually. Gemma Arterton replied to me via venue, and included her own pic, via venue. I also got Jennifer Hawkins by just sending a letter! I have gotten several autos via email too. If sending in Australia, I always try to send SASE but if sending overseas, it is very hard to get stamps for all these countries. I think the celebs understand this

All my Eastenders ones are SAE successes, and I have quite a few.

Well forgive me for being rude, but in the early days, I didn't realise it was so important to provide postage with my autograph request.

I have had quite a few successes just by sending a letter. Nothing else. Geoffrey Rush, David Wenham, Ian McKellen, Alan Rickman, David Suchet, Billy Boyd, Miranda Otto, John Hannah, Jeremy Bulloch. Only once did I provide everything except the postage, simply because I couldn't do anything about it. So I just apologised and hey presto, I got my pictures back.

Some of those people are hard to get, so I'm guessing they liked the content of my letter and not the stamps or cash in the envelope.

While I do send stamps or cash if I can now I am, I suppose, wiser, think it is unfair to label it as being rude for not providing such things. A lot of people who write to them are more likely than not, genuine, one off fans, not people habitutally asking for autographs from lots of people per month, so they probably get lots of the non-collectors who don't know to send photo's or money or return envelopes. I've often wondered if that's one way they can tell who are the collectors or not.

Buy I'm sure, if someone doesn't like signing stuff, it will be the nice letter that cheers their heart and makes them sign, not the fact they have to spend a few quid on the postage. And it would be a mean person that would not sign because someone didn't send any stamps.

Via venue is different, simply because you don't know who will be dealing with the requests, and they may need to get them out asap, but again if some people don't know, they don't know. If I had found out 6 years ago someone was on stage in London, I would have just sent my letter.

I have had three major successes with SAE's- Angelina Jolie. Al Pacino & Charlton Heston. This was 10 years ago when i began collecting, all of them took a while to get back. Nowadays i include postage.

I only included SAE on all my requests because honestly, I can't find stamps as I live in a foreign country and they don't sell UK/US stamps here. And besides, I don't have a credit card/paypal account to purchase online (but I have one now and recently bought some stamps). I just put a small note on my LOR apologizing for the lack of stamps. I sent around 70 requests to the UK and 57 of them were returned signed.

That's cool that you got 57 out of 70 of your requests signed. BTW, I'm a Filipino too. I started collecting autographs when I was in the US, so you can imagine it would be so easier and faster to send mail everywhere. Haha. But I haven't tried sending requests from here yet. I would try doing so soon.
