Why do you collect autographs?

I collect because fan mail involves two things I love.
Mail and celebrities. {love}
As many others have said I'm not a mass collector. I only write to those whom I admire.
But, anyway...I'm not the type of person who is obsessed with hollywood and everyone in it.
I just for some reason have always been fascinated with how the entertainment industry works. So, it's very fun to be able to contact some of the musicians, actors, writers, whatever they do...it's really cool to write to someone I look up to. It's cool to know if for only a minute I was connecting with them when they opened my letter.
Also, I don't know why but sense I was really little mail has fascinated me. Everday I love opening up the mailbox to see what I get from the postman. Weather it's an autograph or just the cable bill, it's exciting.
You never know what may have come in the mail ecah day. It's always a surprise, and I love surprises. Knowing I may get a treasured autograph in the mail each morning, makes me even more anxious.
Also, preparing autograph requests is a very fun thing to do when I'm bored. I love writing the letters and decorating the envelope and such. It's just great fun. {thumb2}

I started when I was 12 because I saw a little bit about it on the eastenders website and, as I loved the show (still do) I thought I would try my luck. Plus my mum was always on at me to write letters as a way of improving my handwriting.

Now I love getting post and I love to write so it combines the things I like to do

I love the interaction that you get to have with the stars or athletes. Many of the older stars will write you letters and answer your questions.

I have a Woodstock album signed by about 40 of the performers there. It's great to hear them tell the stories about what they did and saw at the festival.

I collect autographs that are historically relevant. I have some presidents, astronauts, and others. I like having a piece of history that I will be able to pass on to my kids someday.

I enjoy the whole process. I love writing letters to celebrities and thinking that they actually read my letter & I love to think that they took the time to reply with a signed photo

Collecting ip is my big passion. I go to tons of conventions and I'm always at the theatre. It's great to meet the people you admire and tell them in person how much you love them. The photographs I have of me and the stars are my most treasured possessions. They're a great talking point when friends come over and they bring back great memories!

Thats also why i do it... yet i lost all my photos with people IP when my PC crashed....

I'm sorry to hear that! I bought a 2gb memory card especially for my ip encounters so I don't have to delete them to make room for normal photo's. That way I can print off copies whenever I like and I have them if my laptop crashes (which is often )

I collect autographs, quite simply because I love it. The thrill of recieving a high profile stars autograph, or the autograph of someone you admire, you really can't beat the feeling. Plus the autographs you get are something, to keep and to cheish. It's great fun!

Because it a thrill to get somthing back from someone you watch on TV. But the best is when you can meet some one in person at a signing so you can shake there hand and say thanks
