If I don't send a photograph...

I want to request an autograph from a movie actor who is not very widely known. So, I had trouble tracking down a photograph to send along, and I guess I will just send a SASE. What size SASE should I enclose, and what size of autographed photo is most commonly sent by celebrities and fan clubs, whether authentic or preprinted? Is it the 8x10 or something smaller? Or larger? I just want to know the facts before I send something. I hope you all don't mind the questions....

Different celebrities send out different sized photos. Some may send small 6x4's, others may send large 8x10's. Celebrities can send authentic, pre printed, Autopenned, secretarial photos ... but this depends on the individual. Generally, lesser known celebrities will tend to send authentic autographs

Normally, the largest sized photo commonly sent is the 8x10 photo

I would recommend you send a 9x12 inch SASE - as this will be able to enclose both small or large photos.

i hsve never sent photographs either, but there are a few that don't give out their own photographs, so you should send photos to them.

No, you don't need to send a photo.

However, don't forget to include a large SASE (self addressed, stamped envelope - preferably a 9x12 inch envelope) with your request so that the celebrity you're writing to can send something back to you.

hiya ive got some of mine through emailing their agents and they send their own pics and sometimes envelopes too.

As several people have mentioned, 9x12 envelopes are the best bet. With a 9x12 envelope, the celebrity can send any size picture. Some celebrities send 8x10, while other ones send out smaller pictures such as 4x6, 5x7 (SFM does this), et al.

Also, if you decide to send your own pictures, most printer photo paper sold nowadays is 8.5x11, so a standard 8x10 envelope won't do. So go with a 9x12 envelope.

I noticed all the replys I've gotten from e-mails have been small.

If the address is in the country I am I always send a couple of images, but if they are not I don't send any apart from VV.
