Help finding cardboard for envelopes?

Unread post by ashbashsuckatash »

Hi, I'm pretty new at this. I want to make sure when I send out my photos that they don't get bent, I read a lot of people use cardboard. Do you just cut it yourself or is there some place you know if that you can buy it already? Thanks for the help!

Personally I have always cut up my own boxes. A box cutter or pocket knife will do the trick; just be careful.

I personally don't use cardboard ever, but I know you can buy 'hardback envelopes' - I'm not sure how expensive they are though :)

I cut up cereal boxes. Flexible enough to go through the machines at the post office, but sturdy enough to get the photos straight.

I don't use cardboard, but lately I've had a few TTM successes where the celeb actually inserted cardboard. Soooooo maybe I'll start doing that! I order all my photos through shutterfly and they always send an 8x10 piece of cardboard with my order and I have a ton of them sitting around just in case.
Most desired: Johnny Depp, Chris Pine.

**I'm also trying to obtain signatures from the leads for Lord of the Rings, the new Star Trek Enterprise crew, Battlestar Galactica & The Avengers! If anyone has any address that can lead me to successes, it would be fantastic if you passed them on!!** :D

That's the good one, actually. That cardboard has just the right amount of rigidness.
Personally, I cut up boxes in which the photo paper (which I print photos on) is packed.

Latest successes: Abbie Cornish, Tatiana Maslany, Rob Brydon, Imogen Poots, Eva Green, Anton Lesser, David Bradley, Heidi Range, Kate Mara, Dakota Fanning, Elle Fanning, Emilia Clarke, Ciaran Hinds, Geoffrey Rush, Iain Glen, Stephen Dillane, Pedro Pascal, Conleth Hill, Tom Wlaschiha, Karine Vanasse, Hayley Atwell, Rosamund Pike, Katie Melua IP, Judi Dench, Charles Dance, Isaac Hempstead-Wright, Kerry Ellis IP, Brian May IP

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who does this. Cutting up soda boxes also works well too.

Usually I only use the cardboard for 8x10s since those seem more likely to get bent than smaller pictures.

[whistles innocently] I cut up boxes from UPS or the USPS Priority Mail boxes. Sure they're thicker and thus more postage, but the thickness will help lessen the chances of damages... plus they're free.
