Help keeping pictures from smearing

I just started collecting and its a blast but some of the pictures I get are so smeared you can't see the auto. I get my pics printed at the local store ( no name given ). ANY help would be great

Are you getting them printed as 'glossy' or 'matte' style finish? and are they signing them in silver?
