MICK JAGGER - Unexpected ROLLING STONES Success!

Look I don't post as regularly as I should. Mainly because most of my autographs are acquired though private addresses I hunt down myself. But I figured this success had to be posted.

I'm a Stones fan who came from a family of Stones fans. And I'm not new to this hobby. I know that Charlie Watts is generally accepted to be the only member of the Stones that is known to sign TTM. Writing to any of the other band members is pretty much a lost cause. We might want Keith, Ronnie. Charlie and Mick's autograph on a single image - but most of us realize - that's damn near impossible TTM.

I wanted to get something for my Dad so I decided to write them on tour, thinking MAYBE I'd be lucky enough to get Charlie. Fully aware that my chances of anything coming back were nonexistent. For a brief second - I even considered sending two photos to get one for me. But I thought better of it and sent a single photo. If we got a success, I'd give it to him.

I sent my photo with the most persuasive and concise letter I could, to the Staples Center in Los Angeles in April knowing that I'd at least have a decent chance to get Charlie to sign without having to pay for international shipping. They played there in early May (the address is still valid, and publicly listed, but the tour has passed so it's no longer valid to get The Stones through them).

And if anyone was going to sign it - I assumed it would be Charlie. To be honest though - I dismissed the thought of ever getting my photo back at all.

I was wrong on all counts. I got my package back yesterday. My mailer was used (I'm not posting it only because I write myself as sender and receiver, so both addresses on the envelope are mine).

What caught my attention was it had british postage on it? This envelope had traveled to me from across the pond! But I hadn't sent anything overseas lately - and I know I had US postage on the envelope before I sent it.

I didn't get Charlie Watts. I got Mick Jagger!

Not only did he sign my original color photo - he included a signed glossy press photo too! It was the same image I had sent them - which they used to promote the tour. My photo was in color with a logo I added to it and a full bleed. Their photo is the black & white one with a white border and their band name printed below.

I'm not an authority on his signature. I've looked around - sometimes he seems sloppier than than others, and seems to only sign in person. But ... I'm 97% sure they are real. Definitely not autopen or stamp - the signature is slightly different. Could still be secretarial, but… my hunch is - it's real. Thoughts?

I've never heard of Mick signing TTM, but unless I'm mistaken i guess …. sometimes you might find - you get what you need!

Great story. I've read this post like four times.

I wonder if anybody else is goign to get a return. Figuring they wouldn't sign (and already have Charlie's and Bill Wyman's autos), I just sent a guitar pick request to a few venues, but got nothing. Sure would be cool if a letter showed up from the UK today!

Thanks guys - I appreciate the feedback! I'd never heard of this happening in recent years, so I knew I had to share it.
I hope everyone else who sent something gets a response too!

Here's my envelope. I tried to get as much of it as I could on the scanner. Most of it is there. I blacked out my name and address. I had written myself as both the sender and receiver so both are censored.

Thanks for all the positive comments!

I'd really like to know - has anyone ever heard of Mick, Ronnie or Keith signing TTM before? Any comments the rest of you have are welcomed.

It's nearly impossible to judge about it. In my oppinion I would tend to say they are not authentic.

First of all Mick never signed ttm or vv during the last decades. And I don't think he would pick one letter from all the requests, carries it to England and signs it. I can't imagine he would do this.

The second point is that the signature looks legit but could be a fake. Mick signed ip during the last years very rushed. But your signature is very clear, almost like it was done very calmly. Look at the "a" in "Jagger" of the second pic. Also the signle "g" (the first "g" in "Jagger") is something he's not done during the last years. He writes the double-g almost always in one stroke.

But as I said: I wouldn't judge about it. He turned 70 a few weeks ago. Maybe he signed some letters to make his fans a gift. If so this would be a Jackpot and I really hope for you they are real.

By the way, to answer your last question: Charlie signs ttm, Ronnie very rare signes via venue at his radio show, Keith does nothing and Mick - well, who knows...?
