MW1221 New Moderator?

I'm somewhat confused as to why the regular Moderators need to be voting on JMs becoming Mods when the "Overall Moderators" can vote as well and override the regular Moderators polling results (i.e. such as what happened with Carmelo15)?

I am confused too, when I become a moderator I checked the results and it was 3 yes and 7 no.

Hi Lisa,

You are absolutely right. He has not been elected by the other Moderators.
Carmelo15 has been elected by the Overall Moderators. The message board needs more Moderators and some Moderators vote "No" to all polls that's why we had to vote again in the "Overall Moderators" forum. He has been elected with 100% of the votes.

And the only "Global Moderator" that was listed was nowandagain

. I know admin stated that Carmelo15 was approved by 100% of them, but if there are only a couple of Global Mods, I think that system may be quite a bit flawed

Also, exactly WHY are more moderators needed?

I'm a member of a bigger forum that has less than 10, respected and great moderators and they have no problems...

I believe that more mods = Bad, not better, at all

We need more Moderators to make the message board bigger

+ a lot of Moderators do not visit the forums very often

I was also under the impression that these polls in the Mod forum were the only ones (so that all the moderators would have a vote, not just 9 of the Global mods). So I'm still confused as to why there's a need to post polls when the regular moderators don't really have a vote in who becomes a moderator if that makes any sense

Ok...let me see if I can explain this to ease your confusion.

These polls in the Mods forum are the general deciding factor. I think that the Carmelo thread in the global forum was only because admin though he was doing an exceptional job, and that he should become a mod anyway.

Rest assured we do not make a new poll about every candidate. Only in the rare cases where a member should be a mod, but the overall vote was a no.

And at any rate, admin always has the final say anyway, regardless of what we vote
