Greetings everyone! Question for you experienced collectors

Hello! I'm new to collecting autographs and I didn't realize how fun this can be. My questions is, for those of you who have tried getting something signed TTM and international do IRC work? How much of a hassle is it? I want to send something in the UK and obviously I want it back. I know that IRC is the way to go. But I've been doing some research and it seems like not a lot of Post Office know what this stuff is. Would it be possible to instead include actual money or money order in case I can't get actual IRCs? Anyone tried this route and was successful? Would that be considered disrespectful to the celebrity? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

The post offices don't sell IRCs anymore. Plus, even if you did use them, it's harder for the celebrity to then go to their local post office to redeem it, etc. It's just one extra step that might discourage some celebrities from replying.
In my opinion, the easiest and best chance of receiving something back would be to include stamps from that country. You can easily buy UK stamps from royalmail.com Also, you could check around on this site. I'm sure someone from the UK could get some for you.
Good luck!

Isn't it only in the UK that they stopped using IRC's? I live in Denmark, I we can still by them at the post-offices..

Possibly. I know they stopped selling them in the USA too.

Hey marksautographs or anyone,
I did what you suggested and went to Royal Mail and tried to go that route. When I was about to print my postage (I did a 'print preview') I noticed that it says post by 03.07.14 obviously it's going to take longer for the celebrity to respond. Does that matter? Please respond. I don't want to waste money if it's going to be pointless. Thanks in advance!

Find what you need here. Don't print out the postage!

If royal mail doesn't have the amount you need, you can call them and make a custom order. I've done that before when I only needed one stamp.

hello again, marksautographs, thanks for answering my question. I appreciate it. Here's another one for you (sorry about this) but thanks to that link you provided I found the stamps I was going to use. Here's the problem, when I was ready to buy the stamps, this message popped up, The following items cannot be delivered to addresses outside of the United Kingdom.
It's like they don't want me to send something to the UK and back. Why bother having the option there? Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Interesting.....I've only ordered from Royal Mail once and I called them to place my order because I needed a specific number of stamps. They just asked for an address and credit card number. I would definitely give them a call to place your order.
Here's what it says on Royal Mail's website:
If you’ve got an enquiry about your purchases contact us on 03457 641 641. If you're calling from outside of the UK, dial (+44) 1752 387112.
