Gene Wilder. Disappointing Success. Stamped

Well I sent out my DVD cover of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother. Along with a short letter thanking him and why I chose to send it over anything else he's done. I figured why go along with everybody else who sends Young Frankenstein or Willy Wonka? Why not send him something that is actually his? I sent it out on 3/13/15 and got it back today (3/30/15) and sadly it is definitely most noticeably stamped.

Very disappointed. But for anyone else who wants to send to him. I DID use the Stamford CT address

I don't know why you bothered sending to him, when the last three or four months he has only been sending out stamps.

The reason he started stamping is as people have been abusing his kindness. That Leon guy on here ( Leon's autographs) he told me on Facebook that he wrote to wilder 6 times in 2014 with 3 photos each time and got them all signed. Now that's just greed and one of the reason he now stamps. It's people like that which spoil it for others.

That's disgusting, and people wonder why celebrities send prints, stamps, autopens etc
I send to one celebrity, three photos, if they respond that's great but simply move on and not repeat 6 times in a year is horrendous, either you have the patience of a child or you're incredibly greedy to keep sending like that.

Really, 6x3 = 18, 3 and only 3 with no repeat sending is much better than asking a single person to sign 18 times for you unless of course you're paying for a private signing for charity or an event.
I usually send 3 photos which include my favourite movies from the celebrity, I don't hound them repetitively with endless requests to the point where they stop signing altogether, to add I also send them a hand written letter including thoughts on the photos and their work.
I understand if you think 3 is too much but I would rather send 3 once than deciding later to send again because I like a certain poster etc

Me personally, (just my opinion, take it as such) I think 3 is pushing it. I have never sent anymore than two. The only way I would do more than two is if it were in person. And I can only think of one or two bands/celebrities I would do that with.

I think it depends on the celeb and how good a signer they are. I almost always send 2 (A headshot and something from a film), and ask them to sign one, or both if they have time. Of all the replies I have received they have all signed both. But some bigger names I would only send one so as to not inconvenience them, and some people are such good signers they will sign everything. I sent 2 photos and 2 dvd covers to Wes Craven and he signed and personalised all of them, AND wrote a thank you note. Just need to judge each case on its merits. Nothing wrong with 3, but for some people it my be pushing it. Sending multiple times a year really is just taking the piss though.

I personally send only one picture for the celeb to sign but I think 3 or less is okay but it all comes down to who you are sending to and whether or not they are good signers. When it comes to sending out multiple letters to the same person you should only send once. Twice at most but 3 times is overdoing it.
