Interestingly, Mr. Holliman wrote on my SASE as well, providing a return address (4249 Bellingham Avenue, Studio City, CA 91604).
Earl Holliman has one of the most intriguing Hollywood stories, especially when you look at his life history. This great actor hitchhiked to Hollywood at fifteen after being an impoverished orphan in Louisiana, enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII at way too young an age, and had to go back home to Louisiana. He then returned to Hollywood after another stint in the U.S. Navy, worked at his craft and won a Golden Globe. Some of his well-known roles (and my favorite roles of his) are as Mike Ferris in the pilot episode of The Twilight Zone, as Mingo in the film noir masterpiece The Big Combo, as the cook in Forbidden Planet, and as Bob Dace in the film Giant.
