I watched the movie on Thanksgiving, and really enjoyed it, especially the performance of the young lead, Joel Courtney. He's very natural, and doesn't seem to be acting. Anyway, I tweeted to him and he very kindly tweeted back! This led me to checking out his website, where he offers an address for you to write to to get a signed pic or your Super 8 DVD cover signed. And I just so happen to collect autographs from actors I enjoy!
So, I wrote him a letter, and not only did I get back an autograph, but he tweeted me again thanking me for the letter and asked what kind of music I teach, and followed me back!
I've only been collecting for a year, but I'm sure it's not often that you get this kind of interaction with a movie actor. Yes, he's pretty young, but I think at that age you probably appreciate your fans more...and he's terrific to his fans. And years down the road, when I predict he will be a very recognizable and skilled actor, it will be exciting to think back to this brief interaction with him.
