Commander Dean Laird Fighter Ace W W I I

Dean "Diz" Laird was born on February 7, 1921, in Loomis, California. Was commissioned an Ensign on August 11, 1942. LTjg Laird is the only Navy ace to shoot down both German and Japanese aircraft. The German aircraft was downed while he was aboard the USS Ranger assigned to VF-41 flying an F4F Wildcat. His war time total is 5 3/4 kills.
