Re: Gene Wilder
So the guy starts stamping items, partly because he's doing a private signing, but probably because his mailbox is FLOODED with requests, and people's response it to send three or four items? Why so greedy? Is it just me, or does that seem a bit excessive?

Re: Gene Wilder
I always send at least 2 items, unless I don't expect to get a response. I sent Gene a photo and my producers dvd last year and got both back signed. Anything over 3 is probably excessive, but the problem is people keep sharing his home address on here.

Re: Gene Wilder
I think too many ppl are thinking Gene is a "great" signer. Fact is, for years, he was very tough. In my early days of collecting all fans would ever get from him were pre-prints via agencies. I only ever found one person getting a real autograph from him during that time period.
About a year or two ago someone got a success from his home address and then the success started. I thought it was great that, after years of being a difficult ttm signature to obtain he was signing. I always had some doubts the "real" ones were even his. They were smaller, more printed, less messy signatures than I was used to seeing from him.
Now comes the stamps so there are definitely no real ones coming out now. Personally, I think someone on his behalf is having fun at our expense doing two different stamps. Personally, I don't think Gene would even put so much thought into ttm.
Again, he has never been an easy signature to obtain. He was never "Gene Gene the signing machine" (as someone noted in another thread). He had a year to two year period where ppl were getting success after years and years of being a non-ttm signer. Long time collectors will remember this while most ppl on this site (though a GREAT site it is) only see signing habits inside the time period of this sites existence or their collecting time.

Re: Gene Wilder
Yes you are right Gene only started signing about 2 years ago when the address for the house he was selling in ct got out to the public. But in that 2 year period he was a signing machine. But you are wrong if you don't think they are the real deal. They are legit.
Re: Gene Wilder
This guy is pals with the person holding the signing so it's no surprise that he's trying to trick us into thinking gene's ttm signatures are fakejason1980s wrote:I think too many ppl are thinking Gene is a "great" signer. Re: Gene Wilder
I am a collector, Craig, simply a collector. Do I happen to know one of the people advertising the signing? Yes, because he too is a serious collector like myself. He's simply a collector, like me.
It is my belief the ttm Wilder's are fake. A belief. The "real" sigs were still pretty close to the IP Wilder's from book signings but IMO (an opinion) that they weren't real. I bought from the Van Dyke, Lewis and Married signings because it's my only chance to get real autographs. I didn't do Priscilla Presley because I think the ttms are real. Same with Teri Garr. Don't care for Tiffany, Rosario or Lea. If I cared about the company making big bucks, I would have cared about those signings.
Do I think the Gene's were always fake? Yes. But that's my opinion, just like your opinion is that they are real. I was a bigger collector back in the early days but not so much anymore because there are a lot of fakes. Van Dyke, Lewis, Heston, Pacino and many more. They have all been proven. Wilder, I hope is real. I really do. I have a dvd insert I got ttm. But it's my opinion they aren't. Will I buy into the signing? Sure. I would like something I know is real so I can add the other living cast members to the photo. Will I make money off the signing? No? Do I know any of the people making money off the signing? No. Do I happen to know one of the people handling signing, but not making money? Yes, as do many other serious collector wanting to get something that 100 % know is real.
Many old time Star Archive/Tiger members may remember me as Jason1 and for years I told people how great a ttm signer Charlton Heston was and how caring he was about his fans and how, despite the crazy number of ttms always coming back, even in his advanced Alzheimer's years, the ttms were real. Sadly, I was totally wrong. They were secretarial. By the time many found out it was too late to get a real one. If not for the private signings we wouldn't have the chance to get a real, non secretarial, Dick Van Dyke and Jerry Lewis. As for Gene Wilder, again, I hope I'm wrong and the ttms were always real.
I think my main point was that people were making Gene out to be an awesome signer yet for many, many years, he didn't sign.

Re: Gene Wilder
Craig . So you say you think the gene wilders ttm are secretarial. But for around 200,00 dollars you can get a real one through this private signing. I think I heard that the public is not invited. So how would we know that gene signed the item that we are buying. We would be taking the word of the person doing the signing.

Re: Gene Wilder
It's the hobby. You just never know but I know I'm better off buying from them based on their history as opposed to sending anything of value ttm. My dvd sleeve was $5. If I want a cast photo I can eventually get the others to sign, it's worth the price.
A point of the private signing is to sign the most items in the most amount of time allowing the company to make the most amount of money without having to have the star spending lengthy time hearing personal stories from the fans. It's not some secretive thing to take a pic of the celebrity signing one autograph and then fake a bunch of autographs.
Again, I'm not saying the original Wilder autographs were fake. I believe they are, but it's my opinion. My point is that Wilder was not much of a good signer to begin with so people shouldn't be surprised about all the stamps coming. If anything, they're coming because the guy isn't a big ttm signer. I think it just happens to correspond with the private signing.
Lewis and Van Dyke have been secretarial for years. They aren't all of a sudden fake because they're doing private signings. The private signings are in place because it's a chance to give fans real ones. Again, I'm sure Garr and Presley are real ttm and they did signings. If I was in some sort of pact to make money for the signing company wouldn't I be telling fans the Garr and Presley are fake? LOL. If I think something is fake I tell people so they can do some research and avoid costly mistakes.
