But what I'm trying to say is you almost JUST got that autograph and its already on eBay. So yeah you kinda are using Obama to make money. Your actions show different since you did post it. "Not planning on selling it?" You posted it. LOL! And also I don't hate YOU. I hate the actions when people do this. Please read my previous post. This is up so I can determine an insurance value. It's the same reason I've posted other Obama autographs on eBay for $100,000 OBO — so they don't actually sell.

I can totally align with your concern, though. Was totally irked to see autograph hounds at this rally who obtained loads of signatures and put them on eBay. The difference? They're actually trying to profit. I'm not. That simple.

Insurance value? Why don't you just get it looked @ and have someone else quote it for you? It makes you look bad that its posted on Ebay. It really does. Because people like me think you are trying to sell it since it IS posted. But okay. {up}

Despite what folks think in the age of Pawn Stars, experts don't just "exist" on these things. The rest of Obama's presidency will play a huge role in the final value of such items; so, yes, it may be a bit premature for me to be looking into the value.

Don't get me wrong, if someone paid me $4500 for this, it'd be gone in a heartbeat. Maybe a part of me does secretly hope that happens. But that is a ridiculous price — one not even paid for first printing, signed copies of Dreams From My Father.

I should add that if I really wanted to make loads of cash on O's autograph, I would have gotten him to sign another book, as it would probably be far more valuable than a magazine. I want the magazine specifically for display purposes — can't hang a signed book on the wall.

My ONLY point was you posted it on ebay with a crazy price hoping that someone would buy it. And that cant be denied because you just said " if someone paid me $4500 for this, it'd be gone in a heartbeat.." so honestly I don't buy the insurance thing. However it's whatever you say. LOL! If you wanted to 100% keep it, you would've never posted it on eBay. I have a Britney Spears IP signed 11x17 photo and a few other items, but I LOVE HER and I would never post that on eBay because I know she is extremely rare to get... That's all I am saying. And I don't like people like that..I don't. And I can't change my mind about things like that. IDK what else to say... {up}

We'd need to look at the original intent of me posting it. If I posted it to determine the value, but wouldn't mind if someone paid a huge chunk of money for it, I see nothing wrong with that. If I posted only hoping that someone would pay a huge, unreasonable chunk of money for it, it'd be kind of sleazy.

I did it for the former.

If someone offered you $4500 for your Britney autograph, you'd sell it. If not, you'd be nuts. Idc how rare it is.

And, since you're bringing up Britney love to talk about the holiness of your autograph, I'll talk about my Barack Obama love: I'm the 19 y/o college kid who gets in line for these things 12-24 hours before they start. Sometimes I paint my face. Sometimes I camp in a tent. I always deck myself out in Obama gear. Usually I bring pins and bumper stickers to hand out to folks I don't know in line. I've seen him in-person over 12 times. Have waited over a week of my life just to see him. Can recite two 15 minute speeches (2004 convention and 2008 victory) by heart. I donate over $50 monthly to his campaign, and did so in 2008, as well. And I wear Depends to the rallies, even though I don't have GI issues. Never have I went to a rally with the sole intention of getting his signature. If I did, I'd be disappointed wayyyy too many times. I go because I support him, his policies, and his vision for our country — not for autographs, they're just a bonus.

In short, I'm an Obama freak. So please don't pretend that me having listed his autograph on eBay makes me less of a fan.

This conversation has become incredibly dumb. I don't mind folks asking why it's on eBay...it's a good question, one that I think I've explained well enough.

Thanks. {up}

I wouldn't sell my Britney autograph. She HANDED it to me and it means a lot to me. I wouldn't do that. Call me "nuts" if you want to, but I don't sell ANY of my autographs. I would EXCHANGE a double for another autograph, but NOT sell. I won't be like the people that I dislike. And if this convo has become "dumb" then don't reply back, however I will continue to express how I feel about autographs and ebay on this forum. {up}

Very nice success. I am not a fan of Mr. Obama's but I am glad that you are happy and that you had fun obtaining his autograph. He's a big name. I understand what it is like waiting all day for an autograph. I did it at the Dark Shadows premiere in Hollywood for Johnny Depp. Happy collecting. Sorry people have been rude to you. Everyone has different opinions about politics and the fact that you obtained your autograph from someone you admire is very cool. :D

Ha. It looks bad, I know...but I'm not really expecting it to sell — that's why the price is set so high. Just want to see what kind of offers I get before getting it insured. Trust me, this thing is hanging in my living room and will stay there for a while.

Unless, I guess, someone coughs up $4500. XD
Reported to ebay along with a link to this site and this thread showing that you only have it listed to try and get it appraised and have no intention of selling it, which goes against ebays listing rules.
