Hello everyone!
Here are some tips that might help you:

How do you find out which venue/movie set/etc the person is performing at?
TicketMaster.com <<arrow$ type down an artist name and you'll get a VV address for a concert where he/she's preforming.
The Internet Movie Database <<arrow$ you can see what movies are being filmed right now and which ones are going to be in future
Playbill.com <<arrow$ what is happening on Broadway and other events
The Internet Movie Database
Don't forget to check bands/singer's official websites for tour dates.

How do you know when to send to VV?
If we're talking about a concert, you send it that it comes 3 days before. On the envelope write (usually on the front side so it's easier to see): Please hold on for artist name (date of performance).
If we're talking about a filming-you'll find the dates of filming at the same topic as an address.

How do you use The Internet Movie Database?
type actor's name and you can see if he is filming any movie at the moment. After you can use search engine on fanmail.biz which is at the top of the page. There you check if anyone before you requested an address of that movie. If not, you can request it at: viewforum.php?f=124 <<arrow$ (there you can also request VV addresses for concerts). You can find many movie addresses and filming dates (filming dates are usually posted in the same topic as addresses) here: viewforum.php?f=120 <<arrow$

What about future movies/series?
You can request a VV address before they start filming but you should write there when they're filming ;)

What do I need to know about writing to a band/singer?
You can find all info about this here: Insiders guide to VV requests (click on the title)

How do I write down the address?
Movie sets:
Actor's Name
''Title of Movie''
c/o production company
Address

Concert arenas:
Band/ Singer's Name
c/o Arena
Address

Don't forget to check the list of Venues that do/don't pass on fanmail.
Good luck with your requests! :D

This list is really great, thank you {up}
I have a general question concerning via venue... Does it matter if my envelope reaches the concert hall a few days more than three days before the event? I'm always in trouble as I don't know how long my letter will take from Germany to the US e.g. Will the assistants keep my letter if he reaches them for example a week before the venue, and try passing it on to the artist when he or she is there?
Thank you

Hi LilSarah!
No, it doesn't really matter. The only important thing is that it comes there before the event is over. If it gets 1 month before, there's a bigger chance your letter will get lost (but it could work as well). 1 week before is still fine. Also, not everyone passes on fanmail if it gets there more than 1 week earlier :/ I'd advise you to ask on your post office how many days should your letter need to reach the destination.
Good luck with your requests! ;)

I usually put:

Artist Name
c/o Venue

and write "Please hold for x on Dec 24" on the bottom.
