I sort of write it in am ambiguous way as well, unless I know for certain the name of the person the e-mail is going to (a manager or agent, for example). Then I simply send it to them directly and as that they pass along the message. Most that respond agree to pass the e-mail along directly to the ...

I usually thank them in advance in my letter, as I'm sure most of us do...that way they know I'm grateful and they don't have to worry about more mail from me.
